SCPD: Ridge Man Arrested For Leaving the Scene Following Fatal Crash

Suffolk County Police arrested a Ridge man for leaving the scene following a motor vehicle crash that killed a female pedestrian in Miller Place.
 
Mary Ginty, 31, of Sound Beach was walking northbound on Miller Place Road when she was struck by a northbound 2017 Hyundai Elantra. The driver fled the scene in the Hyundai. Ginty was transported to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson where she was pronounced dead.
 
Following an investigation by Major Case Unit detectives, John Lang was arrested at his parents’ residence in Ridge. Lang, 30, was charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death. He was held overnight at the Seventh Precinct and was arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
