Suffolk Cop Helps Deliver Baby

A police officer helped to deliver a baby in Centereach on Wednesday night, according to a report by the Suffolk County Police Department. Officer Jessica Proios was responding to a 911 call about a woman who was in labor on Hammond Road near Nicolls Road at approximately 9:15pm when she came upon the mother about to deliver.

 

The mother, Ashley Silvering was in the back seat of the car and Officer Proios assisted the woman and helped deliver a baby girl, only a few moments after arriving on scene.

 

Silvering, 37, of Oakdale, and her newborn were transported by Centereach Fire Department Ambulance to Saint Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson in good condition.
