Legistor Anker: Encouraging Residents to Support Long Island Farmers

Written by Long Island News & PR  |  25. June 2013

Rocky Point, NY, June 2013 – On Sunday, June 23, Legislator Sarah Anker attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Rocky Point Farmers’ Market. The ceremony was a kick-off for the market, which is open on Sundays from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

“I’d like to thank the residents and local businesses for their support,” said Legislator Anker. “Long Island is home to the largest farming community in New York State and many of the farms are family-owned. The Farmers Market is a wonderful opportunity to support local farmers and their families, in addition to strengthening the Long Island economy.”

The market is located at the Old Depot Park at the corner of Broadway and Prince Street in Rocky Point, and will run until late November. Featuring organic vegetables, all-natural poultry, handmade jewelry, and locally-brewed beer,  the goal of the market is to help the community get to know the great farmers on Long Island as well as learn about their growing practices.
