Four Pedestrians Struck, One Seriously Injured in Motor Vehicle Crash

Detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash in which four pedestrians were struck, causing serious physical injury to one in Port Jefferson Station last night.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. The investigation is continuing.

Port Jefferson Station, NY - June 24, 2016 - Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash in which four pedestrians were struck, causing serious physical injury to one in Port Jefferson Station last night.

Abdelkader Barka was operating a 2004 Mercedes Benz northbound on Jayne Boulevard, north of Greene Avenue, when he struck four pedestrians who were walking partially in the northbound travel lane on June 23, at approximately 9:25 p.m.

Jonathon Caba, 19, and Yaviel Calderon, 22, of Port Jefferson Station, were transported to Stony Brook University Hospital via the Terryville Fire Department. Caba suffered a serious head injury. Calderon was treated and released for a leg injury. Jerry Vargas, 18, of Port Jefferson Station and Aneudi Dilone, 20 of Port Jefferson Station, refused medical aid. Barka, 22, of Port Jefferson Station, was transported to John T. Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson via Terryville Fire Department for treatment of a panic attack.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. The investigation is continuing.
