Operator of Harley Davidson Ejected onto Southern State Parkway, Fatal Accident Under Investigation

Phillip Hittel, 48, of Bay Shore died from his injuries in the accident.

Islip, NY - June 22, 2016 - On 6/22/16 at about 8:15 AM, a Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling on the entrance ramp to the Southern State Parkway westbound from Bayshore Road, when the motorcycle operator passed vehicles in front of him that were stopping to merge onto the parkway and struck the rear of a Chevrolet Malibu. 

The operator of the Harley Davidson was then ejected from his motorcycle and entered the lanes of the Southern State Parkway.  The operator, Philip Hittel, age 48, of Bayshore, NY, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he died from his injuries a short time later.  No other injuries were reported.
