Police said they arrested a man from Farmingdale for asking
people to donate money to a fundraiser that didn’t exist, according to a press release from Suffolk County Police.

On Wednesday, David Papik allegedly went door-to-door asking the residents of Lidge Drive in Farmingdale to donate money for a walk that would benefit the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. Man Convicted for Bomb Plot
A man from Deer Park was convicted for planting a bomb in a Huntington Home Depot in October and then attempting to extort $2 million from the national chain.

According to Examiner.com, 50-year-old Daniel Sheehan will face a minimum of 30 years in federal prison and a maximum sentence of life in prison.

Sheehan, who was a former Home Depot employee, sent an anonymous letter to the manager of the store in Huntington. In the letter, Sheehan stated that a bomb had been placed inside the store. Sheehan stated that he had placed the bomb as a demonstration of his ability to place an explosive in the store without being detected.

Sheehan then sent a second letter, saying that if Home Depot did not pay him the $2 million, he would detonate three pipe bombs at three different Home Depot locations on Black Friday.

Suffolk County Police discovered a working pipe bomb in the Home Depot in Huntington on October 15. After an investigation by the FBI, Sheehan was arrested on November 7.

Sheehan will be sentenced on October 2 in federal court.
