Royal Roti Shop Serving up Trinidadian Dishes in Baldwin

Located in a busy shopping center in Baldwin, Royal Roti Shop recently opened to some welcome reviews online.

 

The menu is filled with Trinidadian specials like the aloo pie pastries with channa ($2.50), chicken ($4), shrimp ($5), goat ($5), and duck ($6); a variety of doubles - a street food from Trinidad - like chicken ($4), shrimp ($5), and duck ($5). They serve fried filled dough balls called pholourie ($2.50 for 8 pieces) and a Caribbean flatbread called Dhal Puri ($3.50).

 

The stew choices are chicken ($12), beef ($13.50), red snapper ($19.50), and king fish ($19.50). They also carry a wide variety of West Indian drinks.

 

On Yelp, Lisa S, from Baldwin, was excited for the restaurant to open.

 

“Baldwin has a new Trinidad restaurant,” she wrote. “Yes, I am already planning my next visit. Stop by and show them some love and support small businesses.”

 

Tinina L also celebrated Royal Roti coming to Baldwin.

 

“There's a New Roti spot in town,” she wrote. “I was so super excited to check it out.”

 

Despite some critiques of the food she said she was looking forward to her next visit.
