Teacher Charged With Sex Crimes To Be Arraigned Tuesday, Suffolk DA Says

Long Island, NY - June 20, 2017 - A Long Island high school teacher has been indicted for allegedly having sex with an underage student, Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said.
 
Brian Dreher, 41, a social studies teacher at Walt Whitman High School, was arrested at his home last month by Suffolk County police. The defendant pleaded not guilty at his initial arraignment to third-degree rape, third-degree criminal sexual act and endangering the welfare of a child. Dreher was released on his own recognizance.
 
In Riverhead, Judge Barbara Kahn (second floor of the courthouse) will unseal the indictment Tuesday morning (6/20).  The court calendar begins at 9:30 am.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
