Legislator Anker & Local Scouts: Honoring Flag Day

Mount Sinai, NY, June 2013 – On Friday, June 14th, Legislator Sarah Anker joined local girl scouts and boy scouts and Heritage Trust volunteers for Flag Day at North Shore Heritage Park.  The annual celebration, known to locals as Parade of Flags, is a display of over 100 flags, flown in honor of the growing history of the United States.

“Flag Day is a time to honor the nation’s history and heritage,” said Legislator Anker. “I’d like to say thank you to all of the volunteers who participated in this event and helped to promote pride for our nation.”

The display included Old Glory, state, local, and Armed Forces flags are to exhibit the development of our country. Flag Day was officially established on June 14, 1916 in celebration of the original American flag, which was adopted in 1777.
