Suffolk County Police Officers Help Deliver Farmingville Baby

Farmingville, NY - June 15, 2018 - Three Suffolk County Police Sixth Precinct Officers helped deliver a baby in Farmingville on Friday, June 15, 2018.
 
Officers Sean Fleming, Bryan Mastrangelo, and Eric Dorfman responded to a 911 call of a woman giving birth at a residence on Overlook Drive at approximately 2:06 a.m. Officers assisted the woman, Suzanne Baumann, who gave birth to a boy on her bathroom floor at approximately 2:20 a.m. The baby had his nuchal cord wrapped around his neck three times. The officers cut and clamped the cord and cleared the baby’s airway.
 
The Selden Fire Department transported Baumann, 31, and her newborn son Ronan to Stony Brook University Hospital in good condition.
 
Officer Mastrangelo is a member of the department’s Medical Crisis Action Team (MedCAT).
