Elmont Man Stabbed Mother Multiple Times During Argument, Authorities Report

Elmont, NY - June 15, 2017 - The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of an Elmont man for Assault that occurred in Elmont on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 1:50 pm.
 
According to detectives, the defendant Ivan F. Colon, 42, was involved in a verbal argument with his 65 year old mother. As the argument became more heated the defendant picked up two silver metal kitchen knives and stabbed his mother seven times in the neck, arms, and both hands causing lacerations.  
 
After stabbing the victim Ivan F. Colon then fled the residence on foot in an unknown direction. Fifth Precinct Police responded and shortly after were able to locate the defendant in the rear lot of Target Department Store located at 1730 Hempstead Turnpike. Ivan F. Colon was placed into police custody. 
 
The victim was transported to a local hospital by ambulance and treated for severe lacerations. She is listed in stable condition. 
 
Ivan F. Colon is charged with Assault 1st Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of Weapon 3rd Degree, and Possession of a Dangerous Weapon 4th Degree. He will be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Thursday, June 15, 2017.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
