Smithtown, NY - June 14, 2016 - As part of a multi-year restoration program at Sunken Meadow State Park in Kings Park, Suffolk County Legislator Rob Trotta joined NYS Parks and Save the Sound volunteers to continue an ongoing project, funded by a grant, to plant over 2,000 plants at the mouth of the Nissequogue to rebuild the tidal marsh which will improve water quality and provide a habitat for finfish and shellfish. The goal is to improve the ecosystem and to ultimately have a thriving marsh, river and coastal park. “I love this park and come here often so I will do whatever it takes to preserve it,” said Legislator Rob Trotta.
