Written by Long Island News & PR  |  13. June 2016

Bellmore, NY - June 13, 2016 - Peter Carney, Director of Pride for Youth, a program of Long Island Crisis Center for the LGBTQ+ community, announced that a Vigil for victims of the Orlando Massacre will be held at Pride for Youth, 2050 Bellmore Ave., Bellmore NY  11710 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Pride for Youth and Long Island Crisis Center are devastated by this massacre and the entire community is urged to stand together to mourn this great loss.

“It is especially shocking that during June, Pride Month, we are reminded in such a violent and brutal way that the LGBTQ+ community is still not safe and is still such a target of hatred and intolerance,” states Pete Carney.  “As a community, we must stand together and work towards keeping ourselves safe from violence and homophobia/transphobia.

We ask that our straight allies heed our call as well.”

Long Island Crisis Center’s 24/7 hotlines and chat lines are fully staffed with counselors to speak to anyone who needs support, short-term counseling and resources to help them get through the trauma of this event.
