SCPD: Man Struck and Killed by Own Tractor Trailer in East Moriches
East Moriches, NY - June 12, 2018 - Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a man in East Moriches on Tuesday, June 12, 2018.
A man was delivering dirt to a residence on Moriches Ave. when he exited his 2005 Peterbilt tractor trailer and the vehicle started rolling and struck the man at 11:40 a.m.
The victim, 72, was transported by East Moriches Community Ambulance to Brookhaven Memorial Medical Center in East Patchogue where he was pronounced dead. His identification is being withheld pending notification of family.
The Motor Carrier Safety Section performed a safety check at the scene. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
