Cops: Roosevelt Man Caught on Surveillance Video Committing Burglary in Roosevelt

The First Squad reports the arrest of a Roosevelt man for a Burglary that occurred in Roosevelt.
 
According to detectives, the homeowner of a Mirin Avenue residence was viewing live video surveillance and observed the defendant, Darwin Ortiz, 21, inside the house on the first floor. The homeowner then called the police to report the ongoing incident.
 
Upon arrival by officers, Ortiz, refused to leave the home and remained inside the house until detectives were able to make phone contact with the defendant, having him exit the residence and place him into custody without further incident.
 
A further investigation revealed he was in possession of stolen property for a burglary that occurred at this residence on an earlier date.
 
Defendant Darwin Ortiz is charged with two (2) counts of Burglary 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th Degree. He was arraigned at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
