Spectrum Designs Foundation Surpasses Fundraising Goal At Annual Summer Soiree

Written by Chris Boyle  |  09. June 2025

Spectrum Designs Foundation celebrated an unprecedented evening of generosity and inspiration at its annual summer soirée, “Color the Night,” on Thursday, June 5, 2025, hosted by John and Amy Beyer at their private residence in Sands Point, New York. Surpassing its ambitious fundraising goal, the event raised nearly $150,000, bolstering Spectrum’s mission to create meaningful employment opportunities for adults on the Autism spectrum.

Distinguished Guests

The soirée attracted over 150 attendees, including elected officials Jennifer S. DeSena, Town Supervisor of North Hempstead, County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton, and Councilwoman Mariann Dalimonte, as well as prominent community and business leaders Adam Hager, Co‑founder & CEO of Trellus; Maureen O’Brien, President & CEO of NYSID; and Stanfort Perry, CEO of AHRC Nassau, reflecting the deep community support behind Spectrum’s transformative mission.

Announcing Milestone Achievement: Million-Dollar Month

This year's celebration was particularly momentous, coming on the heels of Spectrum’s milestone achievement of surpassing $1 million in monthly sales for the first time in its history—a remarkable record set in April 2025. This accomplishment has fueled considerable job creation and enabled investments in state-of-the-art equipment at Spectrum’s locations in Port Washington and Pleasantville, NY. Spectrum Designs, known for its custom apparel manufacturing services—including screen printing, embroidery, and direct-to-garment printing—alongside its boutique laundromat, Spectrum Suds, now employs a record-high 80 individuals, nearly 70% of whom are on the autism spectrum.

Employees Inspire

Highlighting the night’s emotional impact were speeches from Spectrum’s neurodiverse employees, including Decoration Specialist Spencer Pusey. Spencer captivated attendees by sharing insights behind Spectrum’s new commercial and marketing campaign launched at the start of Autism Acceptance Month —inspired by and produced in-part by Spectrum’s neurodiverse talent. The campaign, which builds on last year’s award-winning “Out of the Box” video campaign, centers on Spencer’s personal journey and the metaphor of removing societal “masks” often worn by those with autism, symbolizing the acceptance and authenticity found at Spectrum. Spencer was also featured in Spectrum’s viral social media video, which garnered over 25 million viewers, leading to partnerships with major brands and celebrity attention.

Honoring a Key Leader: Jothy Narendran

The soirée also recognized special honoree Jothy Narendran, the president of the Spectrum Designs board. Jothy has been a long-time supporter of the organization, helping Spectrum purchase both of their current locations, find new clients, and expand their reach. When Jothy first joined the organization, they had just passed $1 million in sales over the course of a year. Now, with her guidance, the organization sold over $1 million of products in April alone.

At the event, Jothy was also honored by the New York State Senate with a proclamation presented on behalf of Senator Jack Martins, recognizing Jothy’s significant impact at Spectrum Designs and declaring the date as Jothy Day.

“I'm deeply humbled and grateful to receive this honor. Serving as a board member for Spectrum Designs, helping to create meaningful and inclusive employment opportunities for people on the autism spectrum, has been one of the most rewarding experiences in my life. Seeing the impact that our work has accomplished is simply overwhelming,” said Jothy Narendran.  “This honor is not just mine—it belongs to everyone who believes in Spectrum’s mission and to those who have contributed in ways big and small. This recognition reaffirms that when compassionate people unite, incredible things happen.”

Announcing Nationwide Expansion

Adding to the excitement, Spectrum Designs Foundation announced plans to open its first-ever franchise location, expanding its groundbreaking employment model nationwide. The innovative franchise model will empower other communities to replicate Spectrum’s successful integration of neurodiverse individuals into thriving workplaces.

“This incredible night is a testament to what can be achieved when we embrace and uplift neurodiversity,” said Spectrum Designs Co-Founder and CEO Patrick Bardsley. “The generous support tonight propels our mission forward, allowing more adults with autism to find meaningful careers, dignity, and financial independence.”

Proceeds from the event will directly support Spectrum Designs Foundation, further expanding employment and vocational training opportunities for adults on the Autism spectrum across Long Island, Westchester, and soon, nationwide.
