The Whiskey Barrel Opens in Port Jefferson

On May 28, The Whiskey Barrel opened and began serving its blend of whiskeys, bourbons, scotch, wine, beer and their specialty cocktails along with a full food menu. The new restaurant opens in the same location that used to be the Fork & Fiddle and before that it was Smoke Shack Blues Barbeque

 

The drink list is extensive with a bourbon list for the connoisseur that probably includes all your favorites and a few you probably always wanted to try.

Their cocktails also include old standbys like a Manhattan and Old Fashioned along with some of their specialty mixes.The Port Jeff Sour is bourbon, lemon juice, simple syrup, and pinot noir float. The Whiskey Barrel Giddyup (along with have a fun name to say when you order) is made from bourbon, lemon juice, maple syrup, and cinnamon. Then there is the PJ Harbor Sunset of bourbon, strawberry puree, lemon juice, bitters, and ginger beer, which surely compliments the actual Port Jefferson Harbor sunset.

 

The app menu includes wings ($14) with a choice of sauce like their barrel sauce (maple bourbon, mustanrd brown sugar, honey sriracha, sweet BBQ, Buffalo and more. They also have a coconut shrimp plate served with orange ginger sauce ($13), cajun chips, homemade cajun brown sugar potato chips ($5), pub pretzel, which is a Bavarian style soft pretzel served with spicy mustard sriracha aioli ($11), and more.

They have a variety of salads and handhelds. There’s the marinated steak sandwich, a tender skirt steak on garlic bread with mozzarella cheese and red onion ($17), the cuban sandwich  ($16), a pork katsu, which is breaded pork loin on soft white bread with tangy katsu sauce and cabbage ($14), English fish n chips ($18), a barbeque chickpea sandwich, of chickpeas, sweet barbeque, red onion with avocado slaw and pickles ($13).

 

They also sell cigars for you to take with you and enjoy on an after dinner walk through the village.
