Shah's Halal Opens in Commack

Written by Lon Cohen  |  17. June 2021

Shah’s Halal began as a food cart in Queens in 2005 and came to Long Island in 2016. After opening a location in Hauppauge in September, the chain of Halal food restaurants opened a new location on May 14 in Commack.

The restaurant specializes in quick-serve meals with 100% halal meat and fresh ingredients. The menu includes rice platters ($6.99) and gyros ($5.99) with choice of chicken, lamb, kofta kebab, fish, or falafel. They also have Philly cheesesteak sandwiches ($5.99) and burgers ($5.99). All served with their signature white sauce, green sauce, and hot sauce.

On Yelp, Philip H, from Commack, gave it four stars.

“I may be late to the whole halal chicken and rice party, but my curiosity got the best of me so much so that I had to try Shah's Halal Food in Commack,” he wrote.

Philip found it very clean and brightly lit, with an efficient counter-service steup reminiscent of a Moe's or Chipotle.

He called it a “solid place if you want something slightly different than other fast casual establishments.

“I think this was a great value for what you get at the price point,” he wrote.

Deirdra K, from Smithtown, liked it too and also gave it four stars.

“Everyone was friendly, she write. “Good quality food. Got the falafel over rice. Didn't wait too long. Decent size portion.”
