Officials: Brooklyn Man Accused of Kidnapping After Stuffing Girlfriend in Trunk of Car

Elmont, NY - June 9, 2017 - The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of a Brooklyn man for Kidnapping that occurred on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at 12:30 am in Elmont.
 
According to detectives, defendant Arturo Gurley, 20, of Brooklyn met his 19 year old girlfriend at a location in Elmont. The defendant convinced his girlfriend to exit her vehicle, where he then proceeded to take the victim’s cell phone and keys and pushed her inside of the trunk and closed it. The defendant then drove off. 
 
Approximately 45 minutes later the automobile stopped and the defendant let the victim out of the car where she noticed she was in Brooklyn. The defendant walked the victim inside his apartment placed a sock inside her mouth and duct taped her mouth shut. The victim was in the apartment for approximately 4 to 5 hours before she was finally released unharmed. The victim drove home and notified police. 
 
On June 9, 2017, defendant Gurley was placed under arrest at 1:50 pm in Brooklyn without incident. He is being charged with Kidnapping 2nd Degree, Unlawful Imprisonment 2nd Degree, Obstruction of Breathing and Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle 3rd Degree. He will be arraigned on Friday, June 9, 2017 at First District Court, Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
