NCPD: Queens Man Arrested After Using Phony I.D. to Purchase Vehicle from Hempstead Dealership

Hempstead, NY - June 8, 2018 - The Major Case Bureau reports the arrest of a Queens man for Grand Larceny that occurred on Thursday, July 29, 2017 at 5:00 pm in Hempstead.
 
According to detectives, Clifford Person, 30, purchased a 2014 Rav 4 from Millennium Toyota located at 257 N. Franklin Avenue. Person produced photo identification and a social security card to secure a loan to finance the vehicle. The defendant received pre-approval and took possession of the vehicle. 
 
It was later determined the social security card used was fraudulent. The Rav 4 was valued at $19,895. The defendant has never made a payment and did not attempt to return the vehicle. On Friday, June 08, 2018 Clifford Person was arrested without incident.
 
Defendant Person is charged with Grand Larceny 3rd Degree and Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd Degree. He will be arraigned on Friday, June 08, 2018 at First District Court, Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
