National Doughnut Day 2019: Long Island Freebies

Written by Meg Parisi  |  07. June 2019

National Doughnut Day is once again upon us and there will be plenty of douhnut goodness offered on Long Island.

Local shops and chains will be offering delicious deals all day long. National Doughnut Day dates back to 1938, when The Salvation Army of Chicago created it to honor the "Doughnut Girls" who served doughnuts to soldiers in World War I. The unofficial holiday is celebrated every year on the first Friday in June.

Here's a list of some nearby chains and shops that will be celebrating the informal holiday:

Dunkin' Donuts, which has more than 7,600 locations nationwide, is offering a free classic doughnut — including favorites like Boston Kreme, glazed and Strawberry Frosted with Sprinkles — with the purchase of any beverage. If you somehow don't know where your local Dunkin' is, find the nearest location here.

Cumberland Farms convenience stores are offering customers a free doughnut with the purchase of a beverage from 5-10 a.m. There are seven Long Island locations. Find the one closest to you here.

Duck Donuts will offer each customer a free bare, cinnamon sugar or powdered sugar doughnut. Duck Donuts is located at 586 Veterans Memorial Highway in Hauppauge.

East Main and Main, located at 250 E. Main Street in Port Jefferson, is giving away a free mini doughnut to its first 100 customers Friday. The store opens at 10 a.m.

If you're in New York City today, you may want to swing by a Doughnut Plant, which is giving away a free doughnut with carnival sprinkles with any purchase. Find locations here.
