Smithtown, NY - June 7, 2018 - Suffolk County Legislator Rob Trotta congratulated Matthew Thomas Baron of Boy Scout Troop 41 for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout at his recent Court of Honor ceremony. Not only did Matthew complete his Eagle Scout project, but also  earned 43 Merit Badges and held several leadership positions during his scouting career.

For his Eagle Scout project, Matthew planned and constructed a display case for his High School’s FIRST Robotics team. He oversaw his volunteers who assisted with the project and initiated fundraising events to cover the cost of his supplies.

During the ceremony, Legislator Trotta noted that becoming an Eagle Scout is a great accomplishment especially since it happens before a young man turns 18. “I applaud you and everything that you stand for and thank you for having helped to make our community a better place for all of us,” said Legislator Trotta.
