Officials: Homeless Man Arrested in Connection with Multiple Larcenies from Nassau County Businesses

Oceanside, NY - June 6, 2018 - Fourth Squad detectives report the arrest of a homeless man for a Grand Larceny that occurred on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at 2:35 p.m. in Oceanside.
 
According to detectives, Andre Christmas, 49, who is homeless, entered Stop and Shop located at 465 Atlantic Avenue and exited the store with an undisclosed amount of merchandise without paying. He entered a taxi cab with the merchandise and fled the scene. The taxi cab driver was unaware that the defendant exited the store without paying for the merchandise. 
 
Upon further investigation officers observed and stopped the taxi cab at the intersection of Evergreen Avenue and Henry Street. The defendant was observed in the rear passenger seat with the merchandise and placed under arrest without incident. 
 
According to detectives from the First Squad, Second Squad, Third Squad, Fourth Squad and Fifth Squad it was revealed that the defendant was responsible for the following fifteen (15) incidents:
 
  • December 27, 2017 - (Petit Larceny) – Rite Aid - 3199 Long Beach Road, Oceanside
  • April 21, 2018 – (Petit Larceny) – Stop and Shop – 465 Atlantic Avenue, Oceanside
  • April 24, 2018 – (Petit Larceny) – Rite Aid – 3199 Long Beach Road, Oceanside
  • April 24, 2108 – (Petit Larceny) – Stop and Shop – 95 Old Country Road, Carle Place
  • April 27, 2018 – (Grand Larceny) – Rite Aid – 3131 Hempstead Turnpike, Levittown
  • May 15, 2018 – (Grand Larceny) – Rite Aid – 3199 Long Beach Road, Oceanside
  • May 18, 2018 – (Grand Larceny) – Rite Aid – 178 New Hyde Park Road, Franklin Square
  • May 20, 2018 – (Grand Larceny) – Rite Aid – 178 New Hyde Park Road, Franklin Square
  • May 26, 2018 – (Petit Larceny) – Rite Aid – 1415 Hempstead Turnpike, Elmont
  • May 27, 2018 – (Petit Larceny) – Stop and Shop – 465 Atlantic Avenue, Oceanside
  • May 30, 2018 – (Petit Larceny) –Rite Aid – 178 New Hyde Park Road, Franklin Square
  • May 31, 2018 – (Grand Larceny) – Rite Aid – 3131 Hempstead Turnpike, Levittown
  • June 4, 2018 – (Robbery) – Rite Aid – 498 Hempstead Turnpike, West Hempstead
  • June 4, 2018 – (Theft of Services) – Rite Aid – 498 Hempstead Turnpike, West Hempstead
  • June 5, 2018 – (Petit Larceny) – Stop and Shop – 2450 Jerusalem Avenue, North Bellmore
The defendant, Andre Christmas, is being charged with Robbery 3st Degree, seven (7) counts of Grand Larceny 4th Degree, seven (7) counts of Petit Larceny and Theft of Services. He will be arraigned on Wednesday, June 06, 2018 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
