Long Island, NY - June 6, 2017 - In conjunction with King Kullen grocery store and Long Island Cares, Inc., Assemblyman Dean Murray (R,C,I-East Patchogue) has proudly announced that his Summer Food Drive to End Hunger has collected 1,074 pounds of food to be donated to local families and organizations.

“I am very excited to announce that our Summer Food Drive to End Hunger was a monumental success,” Murray said. “While I am not surprised, I am thrilled at the level of caring and generosity shown by the people of the 3rd Assembly District, particularly those in the Tri-Hamlet area. I want to sincerely thank Long Island Cares, Inc., its wonderful volunteers, as well as the employees and management of King Kullen who were so accommodating and helpful.”

Murray said he will be continuing to work with Long Island Cares, Inc. and King Kullen going forward to sponsor future food drives.

“During a time when food drive donations are historically low, The Summer Food Drive to End Hunger serves as a significant tool in meeting our vision of a hunger-free Long Island. This series of food drives helps us to put more food on the tables of our friends and neighbors facing food insecurity. The food drive sponsored by Assemblyman Dean Murray on Saturday, June 3, 2017 resulted in an unprecedented 1,074 pounds of food for the needy. We are very grateful to Assemblyman Murray for his participation and recognizing the truth of hunger on Long Island, and for his decision to stand and act on behalf of those in need,” said William Gonyou, Community Events and Food Drive Manager of Long Island Cares, Inc.

Assemblyman Dean Murray represents the 3rd District, which includes portions of Brookhaven, Medford, and Mastic Beach in Suffolk County. For more information, visit Assemblyman Murray’s Official Website.
