Woman Arrested in Oceanside for DWI After Hitting 3 Parked Cars, Causing Fire

Oceanside, NY - June 5th, 2014 - The Nassau County Police report an arrest for Driving While Intoxicated on Thursday, June 05, 2014 at 12:17 a.m. in Oceanside.

According to police, Fourth Precinct patrol officers responded to Merrick Road near Chestnut Street for an auto accident.  Upon arrival at scene they observed two vehicles fully engulfed in flames.  An investigation revealed Laura A. Hartlieb, 32, of 1510 Lexington Avenue, New York, was driving westbound on Merrick Avenue when she hit three parked cars causing her car and a second car to catch fire.  Two witnesses at the scene pulled the driver from the burning car to safety.  There were no other passengers in the car.  It was determined at the scene that Hartlieb was driving under the influence and she was placed under arrest.  She was transported to Nassau University Medical Center where she was admitted for treatment to her injuries.  No other injuries were reported at this time.

Hartlieb is charged with Driving While Intoxicated and is scheduled for arraignment as soon as practical.
