Stony Brook, NY - June 4, 2018 - Writer/Director Jason Barker will be Tom Needham’s special guest this Thursday at 6 PM on WUSB’s ‘The Sounds of Film.’ They will be discussing Jason’s documentary, ‘Marx Reloaded,’ a film which examines how Karl Marx’s ideas relate to the recent worldwide recession.

‘Marx Reloaded’ is a documentary which satirizes ‘The Matrix Reloded.’ The film asks the question if Marx’s ideas offer possible solutions to growing economic and environmental challenges around the world? The film features extensive interviews with the world’s leading philosophers who are often associated with Marxism and Communism including John Gray, Michael Hardt, Antonio Negri, Nina Power, Peter Sloterdijk, Alberto Toscano and Slavoj Zizek. ‘Marx Reloaded’ is now available on Icarus Films’ DVDs.  Also included on the DVD, is the short film, ‘Marx for Beginners,’ an animated film that highlights Marx’s most influential ideas.

Jason Barker is a British theorist and associate professor of philosophy at Kyung Hee University in South Korea. He is the author of the novel ‘Marx Returns.’ He recently wrote the ‘New York Times’ article, “Happy Birthday, Karl Marx. You Were Right!”
