Man Shot Outside Smithtown Bar, Investigation Ongoing

Smithtown, NY - June 3, 2016 - Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are investigating an incident during which a man was shot outside of a Smithtown bar early this morning.

A patron was inside Hypnosis 8.0, located at 43 East Main St., when he grabbed and hung on to a water pipe and caused it to break which led to an evacuation of the bar at approximately 1:15 a.m. While the crowd was outside, an altercation began and at least two people fired shots. A Central Islip man, 29, was shot in the leg and was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital by Smithtown Fire Department with non-life-threatening injuries.
