Far Rockaway & West Hempstead Branch Weekend Schedules Adjusted Next 3 Weekends for Bridge Work East of Jamaica

Far Rockaway / West Hempstead, NY - June 3, 2016 - On Saturday, June 4 and Sunday, June 5 and again on the weekends of June 18-19 and June 25-26, ongoing rehabilitation of the 150th Street Bridge located east of Jamaica Station, will result in schedule changes for weekend Far Rockaway and West Hempstead Branch customers.

The following service will be affected:

  • Eastbound Far Rockaway trains will arrive 1 minute later than usual.
  • Most westbound Far Rockaway Branch weekend trains will depart stations Far Rockaway through Valley Stream 5 minutes earlier than normal.
  • Westbound West Hempstead Branch trains will depart 5 minutes earlier than normal
  • The 5:42 a.m. train from Babylon, due in Penn at 6:54 a.m., will depart 10 minutes later than normal at Babylon and all local stops.

150th Street Bridge Rehabilitation - $24.8 Million Project
The rehabilitation of the 150th Street Bridge, a $24.8 million project funded by the MTA Capital Program, began in March 2013 and includes the installation of new bearings and bridge seats, repairs to abutments, concrete deck, piers, and structural steel, along with above-deck work which includes waterproofing and drainage installation. Construction is scheduled for completion in January 2017. The bridge was built in 1913.
