This rating is conferred only upon ensembles of the absolute highest quality. Additionally, Dr. Sckipp’s String Orchestra received the award for “Best Overall Orchestral Performance” and Mr. Cordaro’s Colonial Band earned the “Best Overall Performance in Band” award.

Also, demonstrating their musical prowess were students from William Floyd Middle School and William Paca Middle School, who all received “Superior” ratings at the Long Island Music Festival held at the Van Nostrand Theatre at Suffolk County Community College in Brentwood. “These music adjudication festivals offer our students the opportunity to perform for and receive feedback from distinguished music educators and college music professors,” said Ryan Feldscher, Lead Music Teacher, William Floyd School District. “Judges evaluate performances based on a wide variety of industry-standard musicianship criteria including tone, clarity, consistency, blend, balance, support, control, intonation, accuracy, precision, phrasing, nuance, expression, articulation, diction, and dynamics, to name a few.  We are very proud of the tremendous accomplishments of such a large number of students and their passionate, dedicated teachers!”
