Update: Shirley Pedestrian Passed Away from Injuries in Motor Vehicle Crash

Update - June 4, 2014 - Valerie Fahie, the pedestrian who was critically injured in a motor vehicle crash in Shirley on June 1, died of her injures on June 2 at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center.

Shirley, NY - June 1st, 2014 - Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that critically injured a pedestrian in Shirley today.

Valerie Fahie was standing at the edge of her property, located near the intersection of Maple Avenue and Winston Drive, when she was struck by a 2014 Kia that was traveling northbound on Maple Avenue.

Fahie, 62, of 89 Winston Drive, Shirley, was transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue where she was listed in critical condition. The Kia’s driver, Michael Manente, 36, of South Carolina, was uninjured.

Detectives are continuing their investigation and are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
