A group of skilled nursing facilities in New York, spanning Nassau and Suffolk counties and Westchester, participated in the American Lung Association’s (ALA) NYC Lung Force Walk to bring awareness to pulmonary health issues and the services available.
Over the past year these skilled nursing facilities have formed American Lung Association (ALA) Better Breath support groups. This was the first year that Long Island participated in the fundraising event.
Excel at Woodbury for Rehabilitation & Nursing; Glen Cove Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation; Lynbrook Restorative Therapy & Nursing; Surge at Middle Island; Oasis Rehabilitation and Nursing; and North Westchester Restorative Therapy and Nursing and members of the Better Breather Clubs walked to raise funds and awareness.
“We are seeing a huge increase in breathing issues resulting from those suffering from post-COVID-19 symptoms,” said Lisa Penziner, R.N. and special projects manager for the facilities. “There’s never been a more critical time to focus on lung health.”
