Suffolk SPCA Seeking Suspect Who Abandoned Over 20 Domestic Rabbits at Ronkonkoma LIRR Station
Ronkonkoma, NY - May 29, 2018 - On May 27, 2018 the Suffolk County SPCA received a call from Guardians of Rescue that approximately 25 domestic rabbits were abandoned by the Ronkonkoma train station.
The Suffolk County SPCA responded to the location and with the help of Robert Miserri (first on the scene) from Guardians of Rescue, Frankie Floridia from Strong Island Animal Rescue League and John Di Leonardo from Long Island Orchestrating for Nature (LION), 27 domestic rabbits were captured. Domestic rabbits do not have the skills to survive on their own in the wild.
We can use the public's help. The Suffolk County SPCA is highly motivated to find those who are responsible for this heinous act. The investigation continues as we follow up leads and conduct interviews. We urge anyone with information to contact the Suffolk County SPCA so that we are able to bring the individual(s) responsible for this blatant act of animal cruelty to swift justice.
