On Saturday, May 24th, Councilwoman Jane Bonner teamed up with the Coastal Steward for the Great Brookhaven Cleanup, lending her support to an important environmental initiative focused on the beach near Landing Road in Miller Place. Alongside a dedicated group of Coastal Steward volunteers and Treasurer Mark Campo, Councilwoman Bonner helped remove trash and debris from the shoreline to protect the local marine ecosystem. “This beach is a natural treasure, and it’s our responsibility to keep it clean and safe,” said Councilwoman Bonner. “I’m grateful to the Coastal Steward and all the volunteers who gave their time and energy to make a visible difference in our community. When we come together like this, we show just how much we care about our environment and our future.”

The cleanup emphasized the importance of maintaining clean waterfronts, which are essential for marine wildlife, recreation, and the overall health of Long Island’s coastal areas.

The Coastal Steward continues to lead the charge in protecting local shorelines through volunteer-driven cleanups and educational outreach. For those interested in joining upcoming efforts, please visit https://www.coastalsteward.org/volunteer.html or call (631) 941-6528 for more information.
