Brentwood Man Convicted of 2012 Murder, Faces 25 Years to Life in Prison

A Suffolk County jury today convicted a 28-year-old Brentwood man of second-degree murder for the fatal shooting of a man outside a bar in Brentwood.

Brentwood, NY - May 27, 2016 - A Suffolk County jury today convicted a 28-year-old Brentwood man of second-degree murder for the fatal shooting of a man outside a bar in Brentwood, Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said.

After six hours of deliberations over two days, the jury found Elvi Ruddy Portillo-Aguilar guilty of the August, 2012 shooting death of Edgar Perez-Avalos in the parking lot near Migueleno Sports Bar on Clarke Street in Brentwood.

Portillo-Aguilar faces a prison term of 25 years to life when he is sentenced on June 27.
