SCPD Second Precinct Issues Advisory on House Parties & Operation "Cancel the Keg"

Written by Long Island News & PR  |  27. May 2016

Suffolk County, NY - May 27, 2016 - Inspector Christopher Hatton, Commanding Officer of the Second Precinct, has an important message for you:

With the warm weather and graduation season upon us, the Second Precinct is seeking information from the public in advance regarding house parties where there may be limited adult supervision and / or heavy attendance by underage persons.

With Operation “Cancel the Keg”, members of the public can call the 2nd Precinct at 854-8254 to speak to a police officer regarding an upcoming party that they have knowledge of where there may be underage drinking or limited adult supervision. Armed with this information, Second Precinct officers will assume a proactive approach and visit the location prior to the party to provide residents and / or the homeowner with:

  1. The provisions of the Suffolk County Social Host Law and the penalties for violations thereof and
  2. Other consequences of hosting a party which may be in violation of assorted town codes and state laws.

We hope everyone has an enjoyable summer!
