Report: Brooklyn Man Caught with Loaded Gun After Leading NCPD on Vehicle Chase

The First Squad Detectives report the arrest of a Brooklyn man for Criminal Possession of a Weapon that occurred in Uniondale.
 
According to detectives, the defendant, Jonathan Boyea, 28, was observed by officers operating a black Nissan Altima with a defective tail lamp. Officers initiated a Vehicle and Traffic Law Stop. As the officers approached the vehicle, the defendant fled the scene on Hempstead Boulevard. While attempting to turn eastbound on Henry Street, the vehicle struck a fence at a residence on Uniondale Avenue and came to a stop after colliding with a parked vehicle. The defendant exited the vehicle and fled on foot. After a brief foot pursuit and struggle, the defendant was placed under arrest. A subsequent investigation led officers to the discovery of a loaded handgun inside his vehicle.
 
The defendant Jonathan Boyea is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, two (2) counts of Criminal Mischief 4th Degree, Resisting Arrest, Reckless Driving and multiple VTL infractions. He was arraigned at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
