NCPD Announces Arrest of MS-13 Gang Member in Connection with New Cassel Assault

The Gang Investigations Squad reports the arrest of a West Babylon man for an Assault that originally occurred on Friday, April 12, 2019 in New Cassel.
 
According to detectives, the defendant, Jonathan Quintanilla, 23, approached a male victim, 18, on the corner of Prospect Avenue and Grand Street. The defendant placed his hand under his shirt, simulating that he had a gun in his waistband and as the victim began to walk away he was struck with a closed fist with metal clamps on the knuckles. The defendant and another suspect fled the scene in an awaiting vehicle. After an investigation the defendant was located on Saturday, May 25, 2109 in Hempstead and placed under arrest. Jonathan Quintanilla, an undocumented immigrant with a history of violent felonies, is a known MS-13 gang member.
 
Defendant Jonathan Quintanilla is being charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree and Criminal Contempt 2nd Degree. He was arraigned at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
