Brentwood Day Care Owner Arrested for Sexual Abuse, Authorities Report

Suffolk County Police arrested an owner of a Brentwood day care facility on Friday, May 24 for sexually abusing a child who attended the day care.
 
Jose Flores, the co-owner of Little Sponges Family Day Care, located at 3 1st Street, sexually abused a 7-year-old female earlier this year.
 
Following an investigation by Special Victims Section detectives, Flores, 56, was arrested and charged with Sexual Abuse 1st Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
 
The Office of Family and Child Services shut down the day care center following Flores arrest.  
 
Flores was transferred to a hospital for treatment of a prior medical condition. He was arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip.
 
The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone who may have been a victim of Flores to contact the Special Victims Section through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
