SCPD First Precinct Traffic & Road Closure Advisory For Memorial Day Weekend

Suffolk County, NY - May 25, 2016 - The First Precinct is advising motorists traffic congestion and road closures May 28 - 31, 2016.

  • West Babylon
    May 29 – May 30
    The Annual Town of Babylon Supervisors Cup Soccer Marathon will be held at the Van Bourgondien Park. Please expect traffic  on Albin Ave. and Arnold Ave.

    June 2 - 5 (Rain dates 6/4 - 6/7)
    St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church will be holding their annual festival on the church grounds at 200 Great East Neck Road. Please expect traffic congestion in the are during the festival times: 6/2 5-10 pm; 6/2 5-11 pm; 6/4 noon to 11 pm and 6/5 noon to 10 pm.
     
  • Lindenhurst
    May 31 at 10:00 am
    Lindenhurst Community Cares will be holding a walk against drug and alcohol abuse. The walk will begin at the Village Square at North Wellwood Ave., and Hoffman Ave.’s and continue south on Wellwood Ave. to the Village Marina.

Scheduled road closures due to multiple Memorial Day Parades on Monday, May 30, 2016:

  • Amityville / North Amityville – 10:30 am - Commencing at the Village Gazebo then proceeding north on Broadway to Harrison Ave., to the Amityville Cemetery ending at the Hunter Squires Monument on Albany Ave.
     
  • Babylon Village- 10:00 am- Commencing at Foster Blvd and Deer Park Ave., proceeding south on Deer Park Ave. to Montauk Highway, west to the Village Gazebo, ending at the Gazebo.
     
  • Copiague – 10:00 am- Commencing at Dixon Ave. & Great Neck Rd., proceeding south on Great Neck Rd. to Garden St., to Grant, to Lincoln to Great Neck Rd., ending at Great Neck Rd. Elementary School.
     
  • Deer Park – 10:00 am – Commencing at Lake Ave & W. 22nd St., proceeding east on Lake Ave., then north on Deer Park Ave., ending at JFK School.
     
  • Lindenhurst Village – 8:00 am – Commencing at Breslau Cemetery proceeding west on Newark St. to North Delaware Ave. to Charles St., then west to the Monument at Fireman’s Park. The Parade will continue on Hartford St. to North Wellwood Ave. traveling south to the Village Monument at the intersection of Hoffman Ave. then south to Lindenhurst Village Hall.
     
  • North Babylon – 9:00 am – Commencing at Garnett St. & Deer Park Ave., proceeding south on Deer Park Ave., over the Southern State Parkway continuing on Deer Park Ave., south to Phelps Lane, ending at Phelps Lane Park.
     
  • West Babylon – 9:30 am – Commencing at Arnold Ave. & Karen St., proceeding south on Arnold Ave., onto Great East Neck Rd. to Bruce St., ending at the American Legion Hall at 10 Bruce St.
     
  • Wyandanch – 9:45 am – Commencing at Wyandanch Park on Mount Ave., proceeding northwest to Straight Path. Cross over Straight Path to South 20th St., crossing over Jamaica Ave, to Garden City Ave., proceeding east on Garden City Ave. to George Sims Memorial Plaza.
