Suffolk Police Issue Alert for Missing 82 Year-Old East Islip Woman

Suffolk County Police have issued a Silver Alert for a missing East Islip woman on May 22, 2019.
 
Joyce Newins, 82, of East Islip, was last heard moving in her apartment on Tuesday morning by her neighbors. She last spoke to her family via telephone early Saturday morning, May 18. Newins was reported missing by her daughter-in-law.
 
Newins is 5 feet 6 inches and approximately 84 pounds. She has medium length grey hair and is believed to be carrying a Vera Bradley handbag inside of a reusable Shop Rite bag. She does not have a cell phone.
 
Anyone with information on Newins' location is asked to call 911 or the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.
 
As a reminder, Silver Alert is a program implemented in Suffolk County that allows local law enforcement to share information with media outlets about individuals with special needs who have been reported missing.
