Arrests Made in Connection with Armed Uniondale Street Robbery and Assault, Cops Say

Uniondale, NY - May 23, 2018 - The First Squad reports the arrest of three Hempstead residents for a Robbery that occurred on Monday, May 21, 2018 at 10:00 p.m. in Uniondale.
 
According to detectives, a male victim, 24, was confronted by three subjects on Amsterdam Ave. and Newton Ave. Defendant Craig Blackwood, 19, displayed a black hand gun and demanded the victim hand over his money. When he refused, Blackwood punched him in the face, knocking him to the ground. The victim then fled the scene on foot and called 911. Blackwood was accompanied by Tiyana Oates, 19, and Jaleesa Spurgeon, 16.
 
On May 21 at 10:45 p.m., upon further investigation, defendants Oates and Spurgeon were placed under arrest on Northern Blvd. in Uniondale while traveling in a car. A black hand gun as well as the victim’s IPhone were recovered. Both defendants were charged with three (3) counts of Robbery 2nd Degree. They were both arraigned on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at First District Court, Hempstead.
 
Defendant Craig Blackwood was placed under arrest on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 12:30 a.m. and charged with three (3) counts of Robbery 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree. He will be arraigned on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at First District Court, Hempstead.
