Pelham Man Arrested for DWI Following Wrong-Way LIE Crash, Officials Say

NCPD have arrested John Durant of Pelham, 41, after he drove the wrong way on the LIE and was involved in a motor vehicle crash.

Plainview, NY - May 23, 2017 - Suffolk County Police have arrested a Pelham man after he drove the wrong way on the Long Island Expressway and was involved in a motor vehicle crash.
 
John Durant entered the eastbound LIE traveling westbound in a 2007 Nissan Murano at Wicks Road in Brentwood and was later involved in a motor vehicle crash with a 2013 Nissan Altima near exit 46 in Plainview at approximately 4 a.m.
 
Durant, 41, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree. He was admitted to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip and will be arraigned at a later date.  
 
The driver of the Altima, Fatma Parwana, 24, of Medford, was treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and released.
