SPCA: Amityville Woman on Probation for Animal Cruelty Charged with Keeping Multiple Dogs, Cats in Squalor

Shannon King, 32, reportedly neglected 10 dogs and 2 cats in a house which was deemed uninhabitable, officials say.

Suffolk County SPCA Detectives report the arrest of an Amityville woman for cruelty to animals.
 
Shannon King, 32, of Amityville, was charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty. Ten dogs and 2 cats were removed from the house which was deemed uninhabitable by the Building Department. The animals were living in squalor. One dog was severely emaciated and others were in poor condition, dehydrated, confined in cages with feces. The odor was overwhelming. None had water available. All of the animals were transported to Babylon Animal Shelter. 
 
Previously on Dec. 16, 2017, King was charged with animal cruelty. She is currently on probation.
 
King was arraigned on May 20, 2019. She was released on her own recognizance. King is schedule to appear in Amityville Justice Court on Tuesday, May 21, 2019.
 
The Suffolk County SPCA would like to thank the Suffolk County Probation Department, the Amityville Village Police Department and the Amityville Village Building Department and Babylon Animal Shelter for their assistance and cooperation.
