Authorities: Couple Charged with Grand Larceny After Stealing from Nassau Louis Vuitton Store

Third Squad Detectives report the arrest of a Manhattan man and a Bronx woman for Grand Larceny that occurred in Manhasset.
 
According to Detectives, police responded to Louis Vuitton, located at 2120 Northern Boulevard for a larceny in progress. Upon arrival, officers broadcast a description of the subjects and their vehicle. Responding officers located the vehicle and initiated a car stop. Proceeds from the larceny were observed within the vehicle and John Thomas, 49, and Maria Balento, 42, were placed under arrest. A subsequent investigation determined both defendants were responsible for prior larcenies from the Louis Vuitton store and the Giorgio Armani store located in Manhasset.
 
Defendant John Thomas is being charged with two (2) counts of Grand Larceny 3rd Degree, two (2) counts of Grand Larceny 4th Degree, two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree and False Personation. Defendant Maria Balento is being charged with two (2) counts of Grand Larceny 3rd Degree, two (2) counts of Grand Larceny 4th Degree, four (4) counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree. They were both arraigned at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
