UPDATED: Where to Find Drive-In Movies on Long Island

Mini drive-in movie theaters have been popping up across the Island. Sitting in your car is a safe way to get out and enjoy a fun family activity while still practicing safe social distancing.

 

Here is a list of some drive-in movie experiences that we found across Long Island. Come back for more listings as they become available.

 

North Hempstead - The town will be showing movies at one of three facilities for residents. Movies will be shown every Saturday after sundown into the summer. A detailed schedule will be posted on the town website soon. Residents will have to register their cars in advance here. Locations: North Hempstead Beach Park, Port Washington, Clifton G. Martin Bark, New Hyde Park, and Manorhaven Beach Park, Port Washington.

 

Lynbrook - The village will host a drive-in movie for residents on Friday, May 22. You must be a Lynbrook Village resident and use your Recreation Center profile to register. Location: Greis Park, 55 Wilbur St, Lynbrook.

 

Oyster Bay - The town of Oyster Bay is hosting a movie series this summer. See details here. Location: Various.

 

Huntington Station - Monday, Tuesdays, and Wednesday at Rincon Criollo will be drive-in movie night at the Cuban restaurant, according to a story on News 12. Limited space so reservations are required. Location: 16 W Jericho Tpke, Huntington Station, (631) 271-2277.

 

Lake Grove - Long Island pop-up drive-in movie series comes to the Smith Haven Mall starting May 28. For more information and schedule click here. Location: 313 Smith Haven Mall, Lake Grove.

 

Sayville - Officials are planning a pop-up theater for June with a location will be announced shortly, according to News 12. Location: TBD.

 

Southampton Village - Southampton Arts Center announced that they will kick off Memorial Day weekend with a nostalgic drive-In film screening at Coopers Beach in Southampton Village. Sundown on Saturday, May 23, approximately 8:45 PM. Raiders of the Lost Ark, made possible by the generosity of Simone and David Levinson. This event will also serve as a Food Drive benefiting Heart of the Hamptons. Attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable items to donate in support of the local food bank. Mattituck - Drive-in movie at Strawberry Field in Mattituck. The "Goonies" will be playing on Wednesday, May 27. Free advance registration required. Sponsored by Cedars Golf Club. More info here. Location: 305 Cases Lane Extension, Cutchogue, (631) 734-6363.

 

Yankee Stadium - Okay, we know this is a little out of the way (and not on Long Island) but it’s pretty cool. According to reports, beginning in July, Yankee Stadium will host drive-in movie festivals in its parking lot. Location: 1 E 161 St, The Bronx, (718) 293-4300.
