Long Island Psychologists Continue to Help Long Islanders Overcome Depression and Anxiety

Written by Long Island News & PR  |  21. May 2019

Research consistently shows that anxiety and depression are on the rise. With busier lives, tension in the news, and limited spare time, men and women on Long Island are frequently finding that their mental health is not where they want it to be.

“One doesn’t have to be political to feel the effects of politics, or poor to feel the stress of finances, or lonely to feel the strain of relationships” said Dr. Marc Shulman, founder of Long Island Psychology. “We are living at a time when people are simply struggling, and there are limited signs that a better and easier future are on the horizon.”

Dr. Shulman, along with Long Island psychologist Dr. Atara Wertentheil, has been helping patients in areas like Garden City, Lawrence, and Rockville Centre learn to cope with these life stressors and work towards experiencing a more positive, productive, and fulfilling future.

Long Island Psychology sees patients from all backgrounds and all age groups. They provide services for individuals and couples and are unique in their efforts to offer a tailored approach to treatment based on the individual needs of each patient. Their therapists incorporate a variety of techniques in order to ensure the therapy is effective and help clients meet their goals. These include psychodynamic explorative techniques, behavioral strategies, cognitive restructuring techniques, and Dynamic Experiential Learning (DEL).

The primary goal of the psychologists at Long Island Psychology is to determine what each client needs to feel happier or less anxious and to then generate an actionable treatment plan based on those needs. According to Dr. Shulman, the results have been successful:

“We’ve been seeing men, women, adolescents and couples make significant and positive changes in their lives by focusing not just on the past, but on a combination of factors explored within each session.”

Long Island Psychology continues to accept clients and has three separate offices in Nassau County. They also offer late afternoon and evening appointments to make it easier and more convenient for Long Islanders to get the help they need.
