Man Responsible for Two-Car Crash That Killed Central Islip Woman Is Sentenced

Central Islip - May 20, 2015 - The sentencing of Charles Koukalenios, 30, of East Islip will be held at 2:00 pm before State Supreme Court Justice Fernando Camacho in First District Court in Central Islip.

Justice Camacho capped the defendant’s sentence at five to 15 years in state prison.

On May 4 of last year, Koukalenios crossed over into oncoming traffic on Carleton Avenue and collided head-on with 84-year-old Mary Rogalle of Central Islip. She was pronounced dead at Southside Hospital.

The defendant pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide, aggravated driving while intoxicated, vehicular manslaughter, speeding and reckless driving.
