North Babylon Woman on Drugs Found Passed Out Behind Wheel with 5 Year-Old in Back Seat, Cops Say

North Massapequa, NY - May 18, 2018 - The Nassau County Police report the arrest of a North Babylon woman for Driving While Intoxicated (Leandra’s Law) that occurred on Friday, May 18, 2018 at 4:24 A.M. in North Massapequa.
 
According to Police, 2nd Precinct Officers while on patrol observed a 2009 Acura stopped in the travel portion of the roadway with its hazards on on Hicksville Rd in the vicinity of the Southern State Parkway. Officers conducted an investigation and observed the defendant Tasha R. Hudson, 43, in the driver’s seat, passed out and a 5 year old female child in the rear seat. It was determined that defendant was operating under the influence of drugs. The child was released to the custody of a relative. Defendant was transported to Nassau University Medical Center.
 
Defendant Hudson is charged with Aggravated DWI under Leandra’s Law, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, DWAI Drugs, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and 1 Vehicle and Traffic Law violation. She will be arraigned when medically practical.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
