Drunk Driver Arrested While Driving with One Month Old Baby in Oceanside

Oceanside, NY - May 18th, 2015 - The Nassau County Police Department reports the arrest of a West Hempstead man for Driving While Intoxicated that occurred on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 10:45 pm in Oceanside.

According to police, defendant Andres Collado, 27, of Pinebook Avenue, was operating a 2004 Nissan Sentra when he rear ended a 2008 Jeep that was attempting to make  a left turn on Long Beach Road, Oceanside. Upon police arrival, the defendant was observed to have glassy red blood shot eyes, blurred speech and a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath.  It was also discovered that the defendants’ one month old son was secured in the back seat of the automobile.  

Collado was placed under arrest. The baby was released to the mother who was at scene.  Subsequent to arrest, it was determined that the above defendant had three (3) open Nassau County warrants for Criminal Contempt 1st Degree, Harassment and Violation of Probation.

Defendant Collado is being charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (Leandra’s Law), Aggravated Unlicensed Operator, Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Driving While Intoxicated. He will be arraigned on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
