Suffolk County Legislator Anker Honors Mount Sinai Firefighters

Rocky Point, NY - May 12, 2017 - On Saturday, May 6th, Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker joined the Mount Sinai Fire Department to celebrate their Annual Inspection and Installation Dinner at Majestic Gardens in Rocky Point. The celebration included honoring local firefighters for their years of service, inducting the new department officers, and presentations by government officials and community leaders. Legislator Anker also presented Captain Adam Thomas and Firefighter Daniel Carro with proclamations for rescuing three fishermen from the icy waters of Mt. Sinai Harbor when their boat overturned back in January. In addition, Vincent Tambone was honored as Mount Sinai Fire Department’s Firefighter of the Year.
 
“I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the members of the Mount Sinai Fire Department for protecting our community for over 85 years,” said Legislator Anker. “It is an honor and a privilege to recognize the brave men and women for the services they provide, which are vital to the safety of our community.”
 
Legislator Anker presented certificates to twenty-two firefighters who were recognized for their dedicated years of service: Ronald Bobrowsky was honored for 45 years of services; Janis Henderson for 35 years of services; Bryan Bobrowsky, Brian Lynch, and Joseph Marcellino for 30 years of service; John Purcell and Anthony Tricarico for 25 years of service; Charles Poillon, John Quimby, Edward Schultz, David Taylor, and Kevin Waterbury for 20 years of service; Keith Knoernschild and Stephen Koepper for 15 years of service; Kevin Balslov, Robert Pobjecky, and Adam Thomas for 10 years of service; and James Christiano, Oliver Mizrahi, Noel Nunez, Nicholas Sinnott, and Peter Trypaluk for 5 years of service.
 
In addition, several firefighters were honored with special recognition awards. The firefighters who were recognized as having the most high points were Vincent Tambone, Walter Wilson, and William Cassenaar. The firefighters with the most drills were Vincent Tambone, Brett Gibbons, and Adan Thomas.
